Information, Books and Local Events in Memory of this Day

September 11th, 2001 is a sad day in our history. It is a day 2,977 people were killed in the terror attacks on our World Trade Center, and Pentagon as well as a field near Shanksville, PA. To honor their memory and bravery, and speak to our children about this event, you might want to read or attend the following suggestions below:

EVENTS

- There will be multiple services and ceremonies in churches around the World Trade Center Site - such as St Paul's Chapel

- You can visit the 9/11 museum. Although not usually open this day, throughout the remembrance ceremonies, you can pre-purchase your tickets for this weekend depending on availability.

- View the Tributes in Light - glowing blue lights reaching all the way to the sky, in the place of where the World Trade Center Towers used to stand.

- FDNY Fire Zone near Rockefeller Center is the official store of the New York Fire Department. Join them as they offer kids safety exhibits and fire simulation presentations.

- Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts will host the 9/11 Table of Silence Project: A Movement for Peace Created by Jacqulyn Buglisi. A ritual for peace and healing that employs over a hundred dancers, the performance takes place at Josie Robertson Plaza.

- 9/11 Heroes Run/Walk for all ages to honor the first responders

- 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and Fundraiser
